Welcome!
These pages are an account of my transcontinental bicycle ride from Florida to Washington in the summer of 2022. In them I hope to accomplish three things.:
The first, to record the daily events of life on the road, so they will remain memorable to me years after this journey is over.
Second, since traveling long distances by bicycle may be unfamiliar, unpopular or perhaps unbelievable to many, I’m eager to demonstrate that the benefits of rolling low and slow across America can’t be duplicated at speeds between 60 and 600 miles per hour.
Lastly, I would like to share the thought that when possibilities become choices, things happen. I don’t doubt that the majority of people reading this could do exactly what I’m doing with a bit of training. However, if cycling across the United States is not on your bucket list, find something attractive that is and start making plans!
Before I swirl down the drain of Time there’s more to be done, and this adventure is a part of it. Through these words and pictures, I hope you’ll feel an unexpected sense of discovery about the people, places and things that we often take for granted or never notice at all. So, let’s get going. I’m glad you’re here!
